Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes the me2oh.com policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of the information you provide to us. We receive your information through our Web sites, APIs, services and third-party organizations ("Services"). When using our Services you consent to the collection, transfer, manipulation, storage, disclosure and other uses of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

Regardless of the country in which you reside or from which you create information that is posted to our Services, your information may be used by me2oh.com in the United States or any other country where me2oh.com or its parent company operates.

If you have any questions or comments about this Privacy Policy, please use the contact form to contact us.

Information Collection and Its Use

Information Collected During Registration: When you create or edit a me2oh.com account, you provide some personal information, such as your Second Life avatar name ("SL username"), me2oh.com password, and an email address. Some of this information is listed publicly on our Services, including on your profile page and in search results. Some Services, such as search, public user profiles and viewing lists, do not require registration. Your Second Life avatar name, an email address, and a password of your choice are required in order to register. The email address used for registration and password are not shared with others. All other information is governed by the section titled "Additional Information Provided" below.

Additional Information Provided: You may provide us with additional information to make public, such as:

  • information about your Second Life avatar and activities
  • information about your first life (your "real life") and activities
  • your real-world location
  • pictures of your Second Life avatar or first life self
  • any other pieces of information

You may customize your account with such information, and all information provided is considered public unless the field for such information on your profile edit page states otherwise. We may use your contact information to send you information about our Services, to market to you, to pass private messages to you from other members, or to notify you that someone has posted content to which you are subscribed. You may unsubscribe from these messages by logging into your account, clicking the "My account" link, and then clicking the "Notifications" button at the top of your account page.

If you email us, we may keep your message, email address and contact information to respond to your request. Providing the additional information described in this section is entirely optional and you may add or remove such information at your own discretion.

Subscribing, Following, Friend Requests, Lists and other Public Information: Our Services are primarily designed to help you share information with the world. This includes not only the other members of me2oh.com but anyone who may access this site without a membership. Most of the information you provide to us is information you are requesting we make public. This includes not only the content you post on our Web sites and the metadata provided with such content, such as when you posted a new topic in our forum or in your blog, or a new comment posted to existing content, but also the people you follow and those who follow you, the content you mark as "favorites" and many other information posted. Our default is almost always that we make the information you provide to us public, but we give you the ability to make your information private if you want, although this may require that you remove such information from our Web site. Your public information is disseminated to the world. For example, your profile information can be searched by search engines and is delivered immediately by our APIs to other users and services. You should be careful about all information that will be made public by me2oh.com and only post information to this site that you wish to share with the world.

Your Location Information: You may choose to note your location in your me2oh.com profile. You can control this information in your account settings. All location information is public, so please take care to only provide us the information you wish others to see.

The Use of Cookies: Like many Web sites, we use "cookie" technology to collect additional Web site usage data and to improve our Services. We do not require cookies for most of our Services, such as our search function and the viewing of user profiles. A cookie is a small data file transferred to your computer's hard disk by your Web browser. We may use session and/or persistent cookies to better understand how you interact with our Services, to monitor aggregate usage by our users and Web traffic routing on our Services, and to improve our Services. Cookies are automatically accepted by most Internet browsers. You can instruct your browser, however, to stop accepting cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie from any Web sites you visit. The settings for controlling the acceptance of cookies are located in your browser. Consult its documentation for more information.

Third-Party Services: me2oh.com may use Google Analytics to help understand how our users access and use our Services. Analytics may collect the information sent by your browser as part of a Web page request, your IP address and cookies. Google will also receive the information collected and their use of it is governed by their own Privacy Policy.

Log Data: Our servers automatically record information ("Log Data") created by your use of our Services. This Log Data may include information such as your browser type, the referring domain, pages visited, your IP address, and search terms. Your other activity, such as interactions with advertisements that appear on our Web site, may also be included in our Log Data.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Your Consent: We may share or disclose your information with your consent. For example, you give your consent when you use a third-party Web client to access your me2oh.com account.

Third-Party Service Providers: We engage trusted third-parties to perform functions and provide services to us. We may share your personal information with these third-parties, but only as is necessary for them to perform their functions and provide us such services, and only pursuant to obligations mirroring the protections of this privacy policy.

Law and Harm: We may disclose your information if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation or legal request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security or technical issues; or to protect our rights or property. We do not take this matter lightly and will require any government who requests such information to provide us with the proper request, as mandated by law in the jurisdiction(s) in which our server(s) reside, in order to receive any private information from our servers.

Transfer of Business: In the event that me2oh.com is involved in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, reorganization or a sale of assets, your information may be transferred or sold as part of that transaction. The agreements made in this privacy policy will apply to your information as transferred to the new entity and they will be responsible for respecting the terms of this agreement.

Non-Personal and Non-Private Information: We may share or disclose your non-private, aggregated or otherwise non-personal information, such as your public information posted to our Services or the number of users who clicked a particular link (even if only one user clicked the link).

Modifying and Removing Your Information

If you are a registered user of our Services, we provide you with tools to access or modify any personal information that you provided to us that has been associated with your account. You may make changes to the information you have provided to us at any time. The exception to this policy occurs when your account is blocked for a violation of our Terms of Use. If your account is blocked, you will not be able to log into your account, but you may contact us and request that we remove the information in your public profile.

Note that some types of content posted to our me2oh.com cannot be modified once posted by you. This is by design because our our Web site is designed to be a place where members can post content and comment on the content that others have posted. Allowing the modification of certain types of content once others have commented on it would "break" the conversation and make it impossible for others to follow. Your public profile information, however, may always be modified, so it is always best, if you choose to post personal information about yourself to our Web site, that you post it to your personal profile, so that you are able to modify or remove it later.

Our Privacy Policy Regarding Children

Our Services are not intended to be used by people under the age of 13. If you become aware that your child has provided us with any personal information without your consent, please use the contact form to notify us. We never knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that a child under the age of 13 has provided us with any personal information, we will take the necessary steps to remove such information and block the child's account so that the child is no longer able to log into our Web site and use our Services.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time at our discretion. The most current version of the policy will always govern our use of your information and will be located at me2oh.com/about/privacy. If we make a change to this policy that, in our sole discretion, is considered material, we will notify you via the me2oh Admin Blog. By continuing to access or use our Services after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by our revised Privacy Policy.
